White House denies defying judge’s order over deportations to El Salvador

BBC News, London and Washington, DC
The White House denied accusing rights groups that legal procedures had faded by challenging the judge’s order during the end of the weekend deportations.
A group of 238 members of the alleged Venezuelan gang, in addition to 23 alleged members in the MS-13 Gang, were sent from the United States to a prison in El Salvador. Some of the country have been removed under a law that has not been invoked since World War II.
The move came despite a temporary block issued by the judge. The White House said that the judge himself was not legal and was issued after the group was deported.
The United States government or El Salvador did not specify the detainees, or provided details of their alleged crime or gang membership.
Trump, who announced the move on Saturday, a day after he signed, announced the TDA gang of “committing, trying, and threatening the invasion or predatory incursion against the territory of the United States.”
He cited the law of foreign enemies – a legislation dating back to 1798, which was designed to allow the deportation of non -citizens in times of war or invasion. Activists questioned Trump’s justification.
The White House said on Monday that the law was used for treatment 137 out of 261 people who were deported.
The basis for the other two deportees from the United States was still unclear, and the details of the group as a whole have not been revealed.
Many men’s relatives told them that they were among the group of the New York Times that their loved ones had no gang relationships.
For its part, the White House insisted that the authorities were “sure” that the detainees were members of the gang, on the basis of intelligence.
The case has raised constitutional questions since then, under the American checks and balance system, is expected to comply with government agencies of the ruling of the federal judge.
A hearing is scheduled to be held to verify more information about the Trump administration’s use of foreign enemies’ law at 16:00 USA (20:00 GMT) on Monday.
The order to stop the deportation from the American boycott judge, James Boasberg, came on Saturday evening, who demanded the suspension of the 14 -day stopping pending more legal arguments.
After the lawyers told him that the two -winning planes had already been launched, and according to what was reported, the judge issued an oral order for air flights, although this directive was not part of his written rule.
White House press secretary Caroline Levit denied that the court’s ruling had been broken.
She said, “The administration did not refuse to comply with the court.” “The order was issued, which was not a legal basis, after the terrorist TDA [Tren de Aragua] Foreigners have already been removed from the lands of the United States. “
The Ministry of Justice said that the two departments had already left before the judge’s ruling – which was resumed.
But the timetable for the events that the American media reported indicates that the Trump administration seems to have had the opportunity to stop some deportations.

Tom Human told Trump’s borders, White House correspondents on Monday that Trump had done “exactly the right thing.”
“The plane was already over international waters with a plane full of terrorists and major public safety threats,” he said. “We have removed the terrorists. It should be celebrated in this country.”
The President of El Salvador, Nayeb Boucley, confirmed the arrival of the deportees. He said about the judge’s order: “Olopsie … it is too late.” His team also published footage of some men inside one of its huge generation.
According to the White House, the El Salvador government received $ 6 million (4.62 million pounds) to take the detainees, which Levit said, “Bensing on the dollar,” compared to the cost of their inventory in American prisons.
Rights groups accused Trump of using a 227 -year -old law to circumvent legal procedures.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) questioned Trump’s use of a overwhelming war power that allows quick track deportation. “I think we are in a very dangerous area here in the United States with the summons of this law,” Lee Gilrrent of the organization said.
Mr. Gilrrent said that the law of foreign enemies was only allowed to deport when the United States was in a declared war with that foreign government, or was invaded. “A neglected gang,” BBC News told BBC News.
This action was last used during World War II of Japanese American civilian trainees.
Mr. Gilrrent added, “The administration says that the administration says that no one can review what they are doing.”
Meanwhile, Amnesty International said to the United States of America that the deportations were “another example of the Trump administration’s racial targeting” for the Venezuelan “based on comprehensive claims for gangs.”
Venezuela criticized Trump, saying that he “is fairly criminalized by Venezuelan immigration.”
The latest deportation of the second period of Trump is part of the president’s long -term campaign against illegal immigration.
The US President also moved to strengthening relations with El Salvador.
The targeted gangs were announced by deporting the weekend “foreign terrorist organizations” by Trump after returning to the White House in January.
