When Trodi Style grew up in England in the 1960s, her family expected to become printed at a drawing brush factory.
But life turned somewhat: going to a good secondary school means that Styler “started dreaming much larger”, she told CNBC by calling. She trained as an actress, joined the Royal Shakespeare company and met – then married – Gordon Somer, known as the rock star Sting. The couple have homes in New York, the United Kingdom and Italy.
Styler, a movie producer and director, says that she was her childhood “very difficult” that helped her confidence to direct her latest movie, a documentary called “Posso Entrare? A Ode to Naples” (flowing in the UK on Disney+ and in the United States on Hulu). The film witnessed that it wanders the streets of the small Italian city raised lava, knocking on the doors and asking: “Can I come?” Conducting people around their daily lives, as well as the population affected by the city’s notorious mafia in the city, known as Camura.
Styler told CNBC: “He grew up in a house listed in Stoke village before the English province of Warsterster. I am hungry “and … my mother said:” Go out! “
When Steller told her parents that she wanted to act, he did not decrease very well. “This has started a very big battle with my father, Harry,” said Styler. She said: “I do not think he understood that … going to the school of rules, learning languages and learning science, you know that your horizons, of course, have expanded.”
“This kind of confidence that I had when I reached Naples has just appeared,” she said.
Go to Naples with “empty fabric”
A long time ago, Styler had a relationship with Italy, after she worked in three films in the country in the eighties of the last century, her third child, Elliot, was born in Pisa in 1990.

But when I asked Styler’s product if she wanted to direct a documentary on the city, she realized that she did not know much about it. “Do you know Napoli?” She was asking friends, with some repeated “rumors”, about being dangerous. But she decided to go with a “empty fabric”, she told CNBC.
“I will take this feeling that gave me, very afraid of Naples, and I check it myself … I really try to find what they thought about their city,” Styler said about her approach.
And she said about the door of the door: “People were pouring their personal stories.” Among the characters in the film is the glove maker Michel and her eight -year -old granddaughter who has sponsored her since the death of his mother, and Nora, a swimmer in the 1990s who remembers Hitler’s tour in 1938 in Napoli with Mussolini.
“It is very cool to go to a place with some pre -ideas and only [be] “All of this has been delivered, and to allow yourself a magical and rich experience to discover a city and its people,” said Styler.

In an organized interview, Styler also met with Roberto Saviano, author of “Gomorrah”, who tells the story of The Camorra’s “brutal“Activities in Naples. It was Upon hiding and under the accompaniment of the police since its publication in 2006. ”But I didn’t think I was going to occupy military and physical anger,” Styler told Styler in the movie.
Women in the movie
One of the most interviews by STYORER groups is the Forti Guerrie campaigners organization, which was created by many women after their friend Fortuna was killed by her husband in the city. They successfully carried out a campaign for his punishment It increased from 10 years to 30 years. “Women are now really, they take a very big position against females and violence in the family. It is very encouraging to see it,” Styler told CNBC.
Meanwhile, former municipal candidate Alessandra Clemente talks to Steller about the killing of her mother by Camura in Naples and her efforts to help the city in the city search for a non -violent life, and the film also presents Antonio Lavrido, a priest who opens his church to local groups.

Through its production company, MAVEN Pictures, which it established with the product Celine Rattray, Styler seeks to “pay the request” for women in the film industry, and the company has made 28 films since its foundation nearly two decades ago. “When we created MAVEN, we said, well, we will give actresses more opportunities to bring their projects, to be our common products, if we like the scenario enough and feel that we can do this,” said Steller.
Styler’s advice for women earlier in their career in production is “searching for stories that have a strong narration of females, so that she can create work for women”, but she regretted that most of the script book are men – who “often write men to leadership roles.
Styler said that some production roles still dominate males, such as film photographers or photography managers. “For many years, it was somewhat similar, oh, well, a woman cannot be cinematic photographs wandering around that camera. I mean … it’s very annoying when you hear like this.”
Stiller said that broadcasting services are employing “much more” women than in the past. She said the film industry “improved the actresses.” “Now no, like sending them to the pastures in the forty, as it was the case. It is good to see that the functions of women have long long, but there is a long way to cut it,” said Styler.
