Starmer welcomes Zelenskyy to Downing Street after bruising Trump clash

British Prime Minister Sir Kerr Starmer Voludmir Zelinski adopted the steps of Downing Street as he made an attempt to strengthen Ukrainian President after his explosive confrontation with Donald Trump.

Starmer spoke to Trump and Zelinski by phone after being filmed on Friday at the Oval Office and urged them to resume talks, including the final touches on an agreement to allow the United States to participate in some mineral wealth in Ukraine, according to the people who were informed of the talks.

On Saturday, Starmer made a public offer to support Zelenskyy, which was received by the chanting of the audience upon arrival at Downing Street, and told him that he had obtained “full support” to the United Kingdom.

“I heard the UK people go out to prove how much your support is that we are fully determined to stand with you,” Starmer said, before special talks.

The Zelinski reception in Downing Street was a noticeable contradiction with his hostile confrontation with Trump the previous day at the White House. The President of Ukraine, who will meet the King Charles on Sunday, told Starmer that “we count on your support.”

Starmer will host 14 European commanders in London on Sunday in an attempt to mobilize military and financial support to Ukraine, including providing assistance to secure peace with Russia.

The British Prime Minister, who has already offered the status of British forces on the ground in Ukraine after any ceasefire, hopes that many other European countries will follow their example, according to European diplomats.

British officials said that Starmer would cause admiration for Zelinski during a meeting on Saturday that he must first correct relations with Trump and that any peace will not last unless the United States guarantees.

One of Starmer’s ally said: “The prime minister’s priority is to do everything necessary to defend Ukraine.” This means that the United States should participate. You have to fix this relationship and return to the metal deal. “

France also offered forces to help secure peace in Ukraine; Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron will use a meeting on Sunday to try to mobilize a more muscle European response.

One of the British officials suggested that the time has come for other European leaders their money as their mouth was: “What Ukraine now needs is weapons and butter. People do not need tweets and a virtue sign.”

Starmer wants Europe to put Ukraine in a strong situation of conversations with Russia – including Kyiv’s armament and tightening sanctions on Moscow – and setting a viable plan to secure any peace deal.

The British Prime Minister held warm talks with Trump at the White House on Thursday-just 24 hours before Zelinski’s clash with an angry American president and Vice President JD Vance.

British officials do not believe that Starmer’s efforts were easy or that he played in any way by the American president. One of them said: “Our relationship with the president is better than it was at the beginning of the week, and this is important.

“What happened with Zelenskyy in the Oval Office makes it more important than ever that PM and Macron went to the White House.

“Ukraine needs evolutions, foods and long -term guarantees for peace and security. For this they need the United States. People can tweet what they like, but there is no other plan.”

Duond Street expects to include those present at the Sunday summit to include Olaf Scholls from Germany, Georgia Meloni from Italy and Donald Tusk Poland, as well as Ursula von der Layen, President of the European Commission, and Mark Roti, Amin NATO.

The summit will be held at Lancaster House, the nineteenth century Palace near Buckingham Palace in central London. Starmer will also make calls with the leaders of the three Baltic countries.

One of the French officials said last week that the early evidence was that the United Kingdom and France were likely to provide the largest units in any post -Truce installation force, but there may be offers to help some Baltic countries and perhaps Sweden.

Germany and Poland, who support Ukraine, are among the countries that have not yet been offered to send forces to the war of the war to help secure any peace agreement.
