Rebels edging closer to taking control of Goma

The shooting in Juma while the M23 rebels continue to attack

The rebels seem to be approaching the main city of Juma in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo after reports that they had acquired its airport.

The Congolese government insisted that it is still responsible as fighting continues in parts of the city. Relief agencies say warehouses with food and medical supplies have been looted.

The clashes between the M23 rebels and the army and their allies left hospitals flooded by the losses and corpses that are located in the streets, according to the United Nations.

The increasing anger at the rebel attack led to the demonstrators targeting foreign embassies in the capital, Kinshasa. A call to peace talks to end the fighting is an escalation.

The adjacent Rwanda has been accused of supporting the M23 of the leadership of the Tuts because it has made rapid progress in recent months across the minerals.
