I have a confession to make. After watching (and absolutely loving) The babysitterI stopped watching the second part of it, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Because its reviews overwhelmingly indicate that it pales in comparison to its predecessor. Here I admit that letting outside influence dictate my own taste was the wrong decision I made because… Killer Queen It’s the perfect sequel not to sleep on if you’re basing your viewing choices on Rotten Tomatoes scores alone.
Past is prologue
2017 The babysitter It is a teen comedy with a simple premise that is executed flawlessly. The story revolves around Cole (Judah Lewis), a new high school student and outcast, who has a huge crush on his kind, considerate, cool, and disproportionately attractive babysitter, Bea (Samara Weaving). When his parents leave town in the evening, Cole is thrilled to learn that he will spend the night with Bee.
That is until Cole learns that Bee is the secret leader of a satanic death cult who needs the blood of a virgin in order to complete her deal with the devil so she can become the best version of herself. Each member of the Bee Sect represents your archetype Breakfast Club The archetype of the character as it exists within a slasher comic context. With these exaggerated caricatures of goths, jocks, and cheerleaders, Cole is horrified, and it’s easy to compare The babysitter For movies like Alone at home Meaning Cole is trying to hold on and survive until help arrives.
With the help of his neighbor, and another person he repeatedly admires, Melanie (Emily Alyn Lind), Cole systematically kills every member of the cult and lives through it. The babysitterAllow Killer Queen To explore new areas.
Sequel setup
The Babysitter: The Killer Queen The film takes place two years after Cole’s traumatic evening with the satanic B cult, and things are not going well for him. His parents believe that he is on the verge of developing a psychotic disorder due to his nightmares, and he is considered the strange child at school, and even Melanie, who witnessed the events that occurred during… The babysitterShe doubts the validity of his recollection of that bloody night. Meanwhile, we’re introduced to Phoebe Atwell (Jenna Ortega), a new student at Cole’s school who is headed toward a dead-end in childbirth and whose antisocial tendencies point to her troubled past where her parents died under mysterious circumstances.
When Cole explains to Melanie that his parents want to send him to a school for mentally ill teens, she urges him to drop out of school instead and join her at a party at the lake. It just so happens that Phoebe receives an ominous warning of her own (dangerously hidden in the eyeball of her beloved childhood stuffed rabbit), saying “It’s all over tonight,” as well as the key to her family’s estate located at Everyone’s Lake. Another gathering. Fortunately, every member of the cult in which Cole was killed was killed The babysitter It has been revived in killer queen, They are ready to complete the sacrifice that they failed to achieve two years ago.
Don’t listen to the critics
At first, I didn’t like the direction The Babysitter: The Killer Queen The reason the first film worked so well was because it was claustrophobic and set almost entirely within the confines of the Cole home. I could not have been more misguided in my assumptions about this film because it is so unabashedly self-aware that it proudly wears its tropes on its sleeve. Every encounter in Killer Queen It plays out, and at some points, there are health bars hovering over each character as they brutally disembowel each other to let the viewer know the outcome in no uncertain terms.
The Babysitter: The Killer Queen It was written off by critics as a stupid sequel that tried to expand too much, but subsequently became even dumber, resulting in a critical score of 46 percent. Rotten tomatoes. While I initially had my doubts about the series expansion, I wonder if anyone remembers how ridiculous that expansion was The babysitter It was with its delivery in the first place.
Solid sequel
If you want a Slasher Maybe with a little more substance (and a lot less style). The Babysitter: The Killer Queen Not the movie for you. But if you loved the first movie, there’s no reason why I should think that would stop you from watching the sequel. Don’t make the same mistake I did, because I’m now in great anticipation for the third and final part that is currently in development.
