Jailed PKK leader tells group to lay down arms, end conflict with Turkiye | PKK News

The leader of the banned Kurdistan Party in Turkiye (PKK), Abdullah Uklan, imprisoned the party’s historical call to put his arms, melting himself and ending his struggle for decades with the Turkish state.

On Thursday, a delegation from the Turkiye Party visited the Code Party, where OCALAN was detained since 1999 and later presented its statement in Istanbul.

“I call for weapons and bear the historical responsibility of this invitation,” Oaklan said in the letter.

“Renew you [party] Congress and decide. According to the statement, Oaklan said, all groups should put their arms and must melt the Kurdistan Workers Party itself.

The Kurdistan Workers Party is a “terrorist” organization by TURKIYE and its Western allies.

Commenting on the move, the vice president of the ruling AK party, Ivikan Alaa, said that his country would be “free of its restrictions” if the PKK places in the arms and melts.

In the first response of the ruling party of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Alaa said that the government expects the Kurdistan Workers Party to comply with the invitation of Oaklan.

Sinim Kosoglu of the island, who is from Istanbul, said that Oaklan’s speech carries “historical importance” because it is the first time that it has been asked to resolve the PKK.

This makes Dem “more important in Turkish politics.”

I left Turkish?

In his letter, Oaklan explained his decision by saying that the PKK was formed during a period in which the Turkish state restricts the Kurdish rights, but the Kurdish identity is no longer denying in Turkey, and there were “improvements in freedom of expression”.

In recent decades, Turkiye has removed the restrictions imposed on the use of the Kurdish language and the investigation of the Turkish identity, especially since the AK party reached power in 2002. However, critics say that the state has not turned away enough to give more rights to the Kurds in Turkiye.

“Respecting identities, expressing free self, and democratic self -organization for each part of society based on its social, economic and political structures, can only be through the existence of a democratic society and a political space.”

The PKK launched its battle against the Turkish state in 1984. Its goal was an independent homeland of the Kurds in southeast Turkey, but officially moved on separatist goals, instead calling for more autonomy. However, he did not abandon armed violence, and the groups affiliated with the PKK continued to carry out separate attacks in Turki.

In October, The Kurdistan Workers’ Party claimed responsibility for the attack At a state -run -running defense company near Ankara, five people were killed and 22 others were wounded. In response, Turkiye hit PKK goals in Iraq and Syria.

Turkiye is conducting air attacks against the PKK in Iraq and against the affiliated groups in Syria.

The stabbing of Uklan can have traces on the main area of oil in northern Iraq, where there is the PKK, and for neighboring Syria, which appeared 13 years after the civil war and the overthrow of December, Bashar al -Assad.

The Prime Minister of the Regional Government in Kurdistan in northern Iraq, Nishirkran Barzani, welcomed the message of Oaklan, while in Syria, Malzlum Abd, head of the Syrian Democratic Forces – said that there was not many of their leadership belonging to the leadership of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party – that the Uklan statement was “historic”, but “it was not linked to us.”

Peace process

The Turkiye-PKK peace process collapsed a decade ago.

Oaklan, 75, was imprisoned on Emali Island, off Istanbul, since 1999 after being convicted of betrayal. Despite his imprisonment, he is still practicing great influence on the PKK, and it is widely expected that the group leadership will respond to any of its calls.

OCALAN is part of a new effort for peace between the group and the Turkish state, which it started in October by President Erdogan partner, Devlet Baheli. The national politician suggested that Oqklan be given the conditional release if his group abandoned violence and solutions.

Last year, Oaklan said it could change the Kurdish question “from a square of conflict and violence to one of the law and politics”, and later assures that he is “ready to take the necessary steps and make a call.”

On Thursday’s meeting was the third time that Dem Party officials met with Oaklan as part of peace efforts. The officials also met with Selahattin Demirtas, a former leader imprisoned for the predecessor of Dem, and traveled to Iraq for talks with the Kurdish leaders there.

Dem had a change of its name after it was banned again and again. Opponents say the party supports “PKK”, but Dim says it calls for more democracy in Turki, and they say that the closure of the ancestors of Dem and Demirtas is evidence of a campaign against the pro -Kurdish Turkiye movement.

Galip Dalai, a senior consultant in Chatham House, said, if success, this step will be one of the “most transformational events that took place in the Middle East.”

“It can” redefine the course of Turkish politics, “Dalai told Al -Jazeera, and it” redefines a Turkish relationship with the Kurds in the region in the neighboring major states. “
