A high -ranking delegation will spend on Friday at a remote military base in Greenland, as it is seen as the latest manifestations of American designs on the sealed Danish lands.

The American Group includes Vice Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Osha, White House National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, Energy Minister Chris Wright and Republican Senator Mike Li from Utah.

The journey represented the latest development in what has become an interlocking diplomatic trip that started with what was originally described as a special tour by the American second lady.

Usha Vances was supposed to travel to Greenland with her son to attend cultural events, such as dog race, and to spend time visiting the capital of Nok.

However, the planned visit sparked the eyebrows, in light of President Donald Trump’s frequent comments that wish to include a mineral -rich Greenland, which he says is decisive for American security.

When it was announced that Waltz, the National Security Adviser at Trump, will join the delegation visiting the island, and it appears that the people of Greenland and Denmark are growing uncomfortable. American visits began to seem less similar to cultural interaction and more like an effort to interfere in the island’s internal policy by mobilizing support for close relations with the United States between the local population – at the expense of Danish sovereignty.

The Acting Prime Minister in Greenland said that it is a “provocation” and a “demonstration of power”, and asked the international community to ascend.

“Only for the record, the Greenland government has not extended any calls for any visits, neither private nor official,” said Ed.

The ordinary Greenland also made their dissatisfaction, and promised that the American delegation would not get a warm welcome.

In Sisimiut, where the annual dog race is held, the mayor refused to hold a meeting with the second lady, citing the municipal elections next week as a reason. The silent protest was also planned, which would have seen the local population to turn their back on American visitors – an embarrassing situation in general and the bad optics of Mrs. Vans.

“The US administration can see that it was heading to the public relations catastrophe,” said political analyst Nawa Readington.

“They were heading to a magic attack without magic,” he said. “With people, they are not happy at all by seeing Osha Vans or any other American politicians.”

Just two days after the announcement of the Usha Vance flight, the cultural journey line was dropped, and it was replaced by one visit to a remote American military installation – the Pittefik base. Now, Vice Vice President Vans will join his wife.

Waltz is no longer listed in the flight line, although it was added again later.

“I think the leaders in both America and Denmark have ignored Greenland for a very long time,” said GD Verse. “This was bad for Greenland. It was also bad for the security of the entire world. We believe that we could take things in a different direction.”

Despite his comments, political leaders in Denmark welcomed the change of the plan, especially limiting the flight line at the US base only.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Loki Rasmussen said that although the presence of the vice president may increase the formality of the visit, it was “a prominent rotation” that made the United States “seem to escalate when they already abandoned.”

He said: “I actually think it is very positive for the Americans to cancel their visit to the green community. Then they will visit their base, Pitux, and we have nothing against that.”

Vans is the highest American official to visit Greenland ever, and while the limited scope of the trip satisfied Denmark, the fact that it has absolutely the high level of interest in the Trump administration on the island.

The US President himself continued to emphasize his desire to obtain Greenland for national security reasons, saying on Wednesday that the United States “will go somewhat to go” to achieve this goal.

According to Michael Williams, a professor of international politics at the University of Ottawa, it seems that Trump’s focus on Greenland reflects a greater international strategy that includes the practice of American influence on the main lands in its geographical influence.

Canada and Greenland, which are the most interesting early targets of management, occupy major waterways in the Arctic that are competing by other global powers, such as Russia and China.

Modern American moves can be considered an attempt to gain the upper hand in these strategic North American regions.

Williams said: “You want to put the American presence in the north and its control over those northern tributaries,” Williams said.

“If you can do this, you can actually control that northern water in a much more direct way than it was necessary.”

Attempts by the Great Powers to practice influencing the countries of the least powerful repeat of the Cold War, when the United States and the Soviet Union faced global ideological competition.

But the focus of these efforts was usually non -alignment countries, not the closest allies and neighbors of America.

Although the Fances ‘trip’ to Greenland may be limited, America’s larger designs on the island does not seem to have shrunk. Any sigh in a short -term Copenhagen may be.

Vans’s visit to the Pittevik space base indicates a narrower focus on American security and military issues. The shortest Russian nuclear missile road to reaching the United States passes through Greenland, and Pituffik plays an important role in American missile defense.

“I am sure that he will say that Greenland’s security is not safe in the hands of Denmark,” Redington said, adding that this “will lead to more pressure on the Danish government.”

“This is not the end of anything at all. It’s the beginning of something more complicated than before.”
