Bosnian-Serb leader sentenced to jail in landmark trial

A year imprisonment and a six -year prison sentence may appear to be a severe penalty for the politician.

But the leader of Bosnian Serp Milorad Dodik shed light on the Bosnian court and Herzegovina.

“There was no cause for concern,” SRPSKA head of the Ribbaska region in the country, Lopeblika, told supporters at a mass rally in the regional capital, Banga Luka.

He said that his conviction for ignoring the provisions of the high international actor was “nonsense.”

“Learn to deal with more difficult things” and called the crowd in the capital of Republika Srpska to “be cheerful.”

The ruling was the culmination of a long -term conflict between Dodek and the high international actor of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt.

Schmidt is still the supreme authority in Bosnia, 30 years after the Dayton Agreement, which ended the Bosnian war in the 1990s.

The higher actor has the authority to impose laws or abolish laws – officials from judges range to political leaders.

One of the former holders in this position, Badi Ashdoun, the former leader of liberal Democrats in the United Kingdom, dismissed nearly 60 Bosnian officials in one day in 2004, in a campaign to protect war criminals.

However, the powers of the higher actor have been used more in the subsequent years, as international supporters in Bosnia have declined in the hope that local leaders will work together to create a viable and prosperous state.

The strategy was not successful. Ethnic sexual leaders are still rooted in a country divided into “two entities”-the majority of Rubika SRPSKA and the union, where the population is mostly Bosnia and Croats.

The central government is weak – there is a little incentive for the parties to cooperate. Instead, their guideline philosophy is simple and interested in particular: gap, judgment and profit.

As a result, the country is fighting with low wages, slow economy and a continuous flow of migration by talented people looking for a better future elsewhere.

“The Bosnians unite from all races by contempt for their leaders,” says Toby Vogel, co -founder of the Democratic Policy Research Council.

“They love not to vote for these men, but it is structurally impossible to show politicians and parties across society.”

Instead, leaders such as Dodek are elected, once and again. The leader of SNSD worked as a Serbian representative of the three national presidency and became the first Prime Minister of Republika SRPSKA in 1998.

There was a permanent topic of his leadership was the threat to stir up separation from the majority area of Serb.

Dudik and his government have worked constantly to undermine the national institutions of Bosnia, as it submitted a series of laws to withdraw the SRPSKA Republic from the armed forces, the judicial authority and the tax system.

Such efforts eventually prompted the high actor to take action and cancel the separatist legislation.

Christian Schmidt warned that renewing the conflict was possible, but he insisted that “he will not sit while others seek to dismantle [decades] From peace, stability and progress.

Dudik seems to look at it as a challenge. He agreed to a law that declares that Republika SRPSKA no longer recognizes the provisions of Schmidt. The higher actor had already canceled the legislation – and made a criminal crime contrary to his decisions.

This has led to the prosecution of the Bosnian leader-Serip-with the prosecutors inviting the prison sentence for a maximum of five years and a ban for a period of 10 years of holding the position of elected. Dudik warned that he would take “radical measures” if convicted.

His condemnation has not brought any fireworks yet. At this stage, Dudik insists that he will not resume. Instead, the Republika SRPSKA government once again suggested legislation to withdraw from national institutions – including the court that issued a conviction.

But Dodik faces problems that exceed the boundaries of Bosnia. The United States and the United Kingdom imposed sanctions against him and his family due to corruption – threatening the unity of Bosnia and Herzegovina – and relations with Russia.

Toby Vogel believes that this is likely to threaten the Bosnian leader Perb from the court’s conviction.

“The conflict with the high actor will intensify,” he says. “But Dodik may run out of the way.”

“He runs out of money to pay his enlarged administration … and he can no longer raise money on international markets. Therefore, he is really very deep.”

None of this will be very comfortable for Bosnia and long hilling people. They still bear the endless waiting, even the prosperity promised by ethnic scientists like Dodek. This last battle in court shows the extent of this possibility.
