33-year-old pays $3,100 a month to live in an old bank

Marian Blazens33, her boyfriend was looking to buy a house in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, for about two years. In 2022, Plaisance encountered an online list of a three -bedroom apartment and two bathrooms located on an old bank. The apartment was 3500 square feet, divided between the first floor and the bottom floor.

“The first time I saw the list, I was afraid,” I told CNBC. “I knew it was dedicated to us, but I kept quietly because, as you know, the home market is a little crazy.”

When Plaisance saw for the first time the real estate list, I knew that it would be the perfect place for her and her friend.

Initially, the old bank was listed for 900,000 CAD or 625,720 USD, but by its first visit to see the area in person, the price was reduced to 521,433 USD.

“The list had ended for a long time. No one was interested in buying the property,” she says.

The couple made an offer of $ 500,576 and was accepted. Mortgage is $ 2,655 a month and pay $ 4,080 a year of property taxes. Additional expenditures include $ 275 in facilities, $ 92 for Wi -Fi and $ 70 to park a monthly.

The apartment still has some original design details of the bank, such as marble floors, crown boxes, safety deposit boxes, and dome, which they use as a wardrobe.

“It is full of everything I love, it is the wardrobe of my dream,” she says.

The bank’s cellar is now a wardrobe.
