Sometimes, there are years where the world goes through some of the primary booming change. 1968, with the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia, Paris riots and anti -war protests in Vietnam in America were one of them. 1989, the year of the Tiananmen massacre, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the collapse of the Soviet Empire, another.

I was on hand to see each of these things happen, and from this perspective, it seems to me that, after only seven weeks, it can be the year 2025 like that: the time when basic assumptions are fed about the way our world works.

The main reason, of course, is Donald Trump.

Since the end of World War II, each of the thirteen American presidents before the current Trump term in his post has paid at least a lips service for at least a set of major geopolitical principles: that America’s security depends on protecting Europe from Russia, and other clarification countries in Asia against China.

Trump has this approach. He says he puts American interests first, above all. Mostly, it comes to the individual issue about the amount of the cost of the United States.

The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 sent shock waves around the world

In itself, this is very difficult for his friends and allies abroad, especially in Europe. But it has become more difficult with Trump’s character. There is no American president in the modern era, not even Richard Nixon, who calls his personal characteristics that form his policies like Trump.

A retired American diplomat told me, “He is like Louis XIV,” referring to France, who wanders in Sun King.

Critics like this believe that Trump is not amazing, with amazingly delicate skin at the same time. As a result, the appoinals who surround him, people like Elon Musk and JD Vance, may think that their position is completely dependent on their praise and support his views.

When President Trump claims, without evidence, President Voludmir Zelinski from Ukraine is corrupt He has a low approval classification, then he takes MUSK more: he accumulates to say that Zelinski is despised by the Ukrainian people and feeds on the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers.

No one in Trump’s circle, apparently, will cough a blockade and say: “Mr. President, you may have to think about blasphemy on this statement.”

Starting from his previous term in his position, we can be sure that each of the people around him knows how to hate to contradict them. They will also know that many voters who have devoted Trump’s approach, and they felt that they were tending to security on a remote continent.

He committed himself to stop the Ukrainian war by Easter. It is completely right when he says President Vladimir Putin is keen on it. Russian forces, through the absolute force of numbers, makes slow progress in the eastern part of Ukraine.

But the cost in Russian life is enormous. If the process continues, Russia may have to recruit, which will be dangerously unpopular and may destabilize the Putin regime. All Trump says about getting peace is music for his ears.

John Bolton, a regular national security adviser to Trump, said during his first administration, on the last day that they would take the champagne in the Kremlin when they heard the Trump administration peace plan. She certainly felt a historic moment – not only in Moscow but all over the world.

Putin has clearly supported the idea that Trump has already won the 2020 elections. This may not be true, but President Putin knows that Trump prefers anyone who supports his view of things.

Why, on the contrary, that Trump and the people around him come down to President Zelinski? This should be partial because he does not do what he said prolonged, such as returning to the negotiating table and reaching an agreement on reaching critical minerals in Ukraine.

At the same time, President Trump realizes that Zelinski is the weakest link in the US-Russia trilogy, Ukraine, and can be pressed in a way that cannot be Putin. The more pressure that accumulates on Zelensky, the faster the peace deal.

President Trump never seems at least in public places to show great interest in the fine details of any agreement. It is the same agreement that concerns him, even if Ukraine and its allies believe that it is clearly unfair and allow Russia to return in the history of the future and start the war again.

British diplomats and Germans whom I know are angry at the way Trump went to transfer Russia to the negotiating table. One of them said: “He had two main cards in his hand.” “The first was to isolate Russia. Putin had made many concessions to reach talks with America – only Trump did not insist on any concessions at all. He left him sitting and starting to talk.”

The diplomat said that the other card was insisting on insisting that Ukraine should be allowed to join NATO. “Trump could have floundered in this matter and blackmailing all kinds of agreements from Putin, before he finally said, well, Ukraine will not join NATO in this case.” In European capitals, I felt that he threw both his basic card before the talks began, without any preconditions.

Indeed, despite this, some European diplomats who have experience in American policy advise their governments that this major royal period in Donald Trump’s presidency, where his advisers do not get off (literally referred to himself as another “king” this week).

Trump is currently controlling a wonderful and conservative Supreme Court-but in just 20 months, in November 2026, there will be elections in the middle of the period in the United States.

There are signs that inflation has started to rise in America, and enough people may be badly affected by the disturbances that want to punish Trump’s republics.

If you lose control of one or both of the houses, then the force he owns at the present time by pushing every plan and politics, regardless of the extent of controversy, will decrease.

But a lot of terribleness can happen next year and eight months. Expansion Trump may encourage China. A major international trade war, which was raised by the Trump tariff. It seems that the European Union is likely to become weaker politically and economically than ever.

Agreement on peace in Ukraine on Russia’s conditions will be a completely new thing for the United States. In the vast majority of negotiations since 1945, Russia has struggled to reach its American economic and military power.

Now President Putin, after making a decision in charge of the conquest of Ukraine three years ago, appears to be likely to escape, and prosperity.

If that happens, it will be already remembered as a major general: a moment when the history of the world changed, and there was absolutely nothing again.
